Så er årets Oscars blevet uddelt. Showet var pga. corona skåret meget ned, og selve showet kom også til at handle meget om corona, om politivold, og om mord på sorte i USA. De musiknumre som plejer at være i løbet af showet, var skåret væk, og blev istedet vist under optaktsshowet, og mange af de klip man plejer at se, med skuespillernes præstationer, og fra filmene, blev erstattet af en tale om, eller til, de nomineret.
Derudover havde man også valgt at fjerne alle de sjove og underholdende indslag, som der plejer at være i et Oscarshow.
Årets Memoriam hvor man hylder de døde, plejer at være utroligt rørende. Men ved dette års show, blev det lavet med Stevie Wonders hurtigere sang ‘As’, og var klippet alt for hurtigt, så det aldrig blev rørende.
Det var derfor, på ingen måde, det samme show og den samme filmfest, som vi er vant til, og det var en ret langtrukken og sløj affære, hvor der heller ikke var de store overraskelser.
Slutningen på showet var også en utroligt antiklimatisk oplevelse, og rundede, på en skuffende måde, et skuffende show af.
Dog var der grund til jubel i Danmark, da Mikkel E.G. vandt for bedste klipper for filmen “Sound of Metal”, og da “Druk” vandt for bedste udenlandske film. Thomas Vinterberg holdte her en meget flot og rørende tale. Yuh-Jung Youn kom heldigvis også, med noget tiltrængt humor, og charme, da hun vandt for bedste kvindelige birolle. Og Glenn Close gjorde sit for at underholde, da hun twerkede til sangen ‘Da butt’, fra Spike Lees film ‘School Daze’.
